“The Cold Call” is a short film by Sohnia A. van der Puye.
The film is an adaptation of an essay published in the New York Times by author Rahul Mehta.
Rahul Mehta’s book Quarantine(Harper Perennial 2011) chronicles the lives of openly gay Indian-American men, their disappointments and betrayals, and the hard earned personal connections they come to cherish.

Sohnia is a film director who delves into film subjects that explore identity, cultural contrasts and the human condition in her creative process. She studied filmmaking at La Femis in Paris and the New York Film Academy, NY. She has directed short films, commercials and music videos.
Sohnia is currently based in New York and is currently in developing and producing commercials, TV and film projects.
PRODUCER - TANYA BRUM DA SILVEIRA
Tanya is an independent film producer born and raised in Spain. She attended the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and the University of Bergen, Norway respectively. With a desire to study film, Tanya moved to New York and enrolled in the New York film Academy’s Producing Program. She has gone on to produce several short films, documentarties and music videos. She has worked close with producers Josh Zeman(Mysterious Skin, The Station Agent), Dolly Hall and Jamie O’Brien.
Tanya is currently based in Los Angeles, where she has several projects in development.
